Refuse of Coral Reef

Brett Whitely Place North Sydney March - May 2021

Brett Whiteley Place in North Sydney’s CBD is a fitting place for the colour and spectacle of the yarn-storming project, Refuse of Coral Reef . This creative display which took three months to create is the the work of North Sydney Yarnachists keen to increase awareness of the destruction of the Great Barrier Reef. It has been purposefully placed in a public outdoor area at the mercy of the elements that will erode the installation over time, demonstrating the vulnerability of the Reef’s fragile eco-system.

The cartoon chalk figures are from Hip Hop Hooray, added Easter 2021.
