North Sydney Art Trail

NORTH SYDNEY ART TRAIL
Distance
4 km Steps 8000
Time 2 hour2 Level of Difficulty Easy

If you’re a fan of public art, or even if you’re not there’s plenty to capture your attention on this walk. The path you see here takes you past such Sydney icons as the Harbour Bridge and Luna Park and up through Lavender Bay and Wendy Whiteley’s Secret Garden. You’ll wonder through the North Sydney CBD and then back down into Kirribilli and through Bradfield Park with its point blank views of the Opera House.

North Sydney Council is one of many councils using art as a way of getting people out and exploring their local surrounds. To get the most out of the walk, I recommend downloading their North Arts app which describes the art pieces and locations, giving background and context to each.

Stops on the trail

The art trail starts at the face of Luna Park, a stone’s throw from Milson’s Point wharf and not far from Milson’s Point Station. It’s a loop track so you’ll end up pretty close to where you began.

Signal box art

Apart from the art pinpointed on the map, look out for the painted signal boxes in the area. The works are collaborations between artists, local schools and community groups and add colour and interest to a number of street corners.
